Dagenham and Redbridge were 90 minutes away from last season's Playoffs, now we examine why they might not reach the same scale feats again, but will more than likely fight hard in order to fight for promotion again. Dagenham and Redbridge were last season's surprise package. They were amongst the favourites for the drop but pressed for the Playoffs all season, recording many high victories on the way. Despite being a bit crap on both the days they faced Lincoln (even winning 3-1 on one occasion), they turned out to be a side that few sides could deal with, including beating Chester City 6-0 on the opening day, 6-1 against Notts County, 3-0 over Chesterfield, 4-0 over Grimsby and Macclesfield, but then the goals weren't so free-flowing after that and it did start appearing in the new year that they would throw away a Playoff place.

However, a run of six wins in the nine games leading into their final game meant that all they had to do was avoid a defeat to Shrewsbury Town and they would make the Playoffs......unfortunately Shrewsbury themselves needed to win to progress into the Playoffs and 90 minutes later.....it was Shrewsbury heading to the Playoffs after Dagenham's impressive season.

I'm not going to lie, Dagenham were one of, if not the worst team I saw over the two games last season. At Sincil Bank they could and should have been three or four down by half time, but went away with victory thanks to Rob Burch's shocker. The game at Dagenham was a fair reflection on the match itself as City dominated and came out with a well deserved 3-0 victory.....in the lovely rain. However, I respected that they kept up around that area of the table for the majority of the season and wouldn't let their doubters bring them down.

However, Dagenham are not a bad side, that despite losing a lot of their decent players. Strevens, Foster, Saunders and Okuonghae all went to clubs in League One and they have been replaced by four players, three of whom are from the non-League. Although they have lost four of their best players, they have kept hold of Benson after the eyes of Shrewsbury leered their view his way.

I think that Dagenham aren't quite good or consistent enough to be able to make the Playoffs but they're a club that isn't that far off. Although I don't expect them to make the Playoffs, it wouldn't surprise me if they were in or around the area yet again.

out of the three they have brought from non league, i bet one of them will do really well for them. still always has a nack of finding non league gems.

Having lost those 4 quality players to league 1 teams l was worried how we would cope.

Having seen 4 pre season friendlies l have nothing to worry out.

I strogly believe we are a better side than last season.

John Still has found 2 very, very good replacements and a couple of youngsters who seem to be at least as good as those that have left.

It's no surprise our 1st team have only let in 1 goal in 5 pre season games, we are very solid at the back.

We have a new young mid-field player ...Danny Green, who will finitely play at a higher level. He was walking around Southend and Birmingham's defence with ease. One to watch out for next season.

I think we will make the playoffs at least this season.
