Barnet are a side that I often predict to do well and they constantly show me up by coming close to relegation. This year I'm not falling for the same tricks and am now confidently predicting them to finish in their usual lower-midtable position. To say that Barnet got off to an awful start last season would be an understatement. They lost all of their first seven games, including losing by scorelines of 5-1 and 4-0 and although they did start getting a few wins here and there, they were still getting beat far more often than they were winning. There were goals galore, wins of 4-3 at Rotherham were eclipsed by a 4-0 defeat at home to Notts County, as well as heavy defeats against a lot of teams that finished midtable or lower. In theory this all makes Barnet arguable the most exciting side in the division, but it also makes them a team that are high susceptible to finishing in the lower reaches of the table.

Barnet have near enough always been at that end of the table since they returned to the Football League four seasons ago. There isn't a single team in the division that gets mauled as much as the other teams in the division as much as Barnet and although they're capable of pulling a few shock results out of the back, Barnet are inevitably one of those sides that most teams will be disappointed at not getting at least one victory over during the season.

So what do Barnet actually have going for them? In my opinion they have the best attacking midfielder in the division in Albert Adomah and I would love to have him playing at Sincil Bank (for City obviously) at some point in the future. He has shown in all his games against City that he is far better than League Two standard. The strike force is also fairly decent. Last season John O'Flynn came out of nowhere to become one of the division's top scores, and Paul Furlong's goal-scoring record past 200 goals last season.

The main change at Barnet occurred half way through last season when Paul Fairclough moved upstairs at Underhill and Ian Hendon took over the chair. Hendon's record as manager is quite literally average. 8 wins, 8 draws and 8 defeats from his 24 matches in charge since December 27^th. It took a while for him to get a win and like Paul Fairclough, was very prone to winless runs. They ended the season on a four game winless run, drawing twice and losing twice.

I have no particular love for Barnet, but I have no particular grudge either. They're one of those sides that are never really going to amount to anything but you can never really picture them going back down. There are many better sides than them in this division and there are also several sides who are far worse. Because of all of this, I believe that Barnet will finish a traditional 19^th place.

i think if they can recapture furlong and have him all season they could do a bit better than that.
