City don't have a great record at Adams Park. They've record just two wins there since the Chairboys entered the League, two three goal hauls in the space of five months in 2006. However, pickings have otherwise been lean at Wycombe. The Imps barely managed a shot last season but that game signalled an end to one of the worst runs in club's history, maybe this trip to Wycombe can end a run of 4 straight defeats going back into last season.
City were the better side for long periods against Dagenham and Redbridge but couldn't find a second goal to kill off the game against a really poor side and that cost us. Peter Jackson's men looks uninspired if anything and have put in three very different performances in the three games so far. The lack of inspired player is more than likely down to the injury to City's former Chairboy, Stefan Oakes. The midfielder will miss out on an early return to Adams Park, hobbling off injured during last Saturday's warm up.
Rob Burch will be looking for quick redemption after a less than solid display against Dagenham and Redbridge, but the defence automatically has to be changed due to Frank Sinclair getting injured after just 25 minutes last Saturday. He will more than likely be replaced by Lee Beevers, partnering Janos Kovacs in the defence with Paul Green and Aaron Brown either side.
Oakes' absense will more than likely mean that Lee Frecklington will start the game in a week where he has been heavily linked with a move to Shrewsbury Town. The midfielder begged for a first team chance last week and subsequently went on to put in a performance that meant you could easily be forgiven for not knowing he was there. His partner in crime in frustratingly under-achievement, Dany N'Guessan, will also be a likely starter with Lenell John-Lewis and Scott Kerr completing the midfield.
Ben Wright, last season's top goal scorer, goes into the game level at the top of the City scoring charts, scoring a huge one with one of his few chances on goal. He could be partnered with David Graham for the first time as Kevin Gall has been struggling with injury.
As for Wycombe Wanderers, Peter Taylor is the current man in charge and City have a decent record against him from his time with Hull. City beat the Tigers twice, drew once and lost one whilst Taylor was in charge at Boothferry Park and then the KC. Whether his luck in the lower League continues is anyone's guess, but he could finally be the man to take Wycombe up.
The Chairboys have never really recovered from the death of John Gorman's wife in 2006. Wycombe were riding high at the time before Gorman's wife died and their form has been distinctively average since. However, they do have an excellent squad and are surely one of the sides who will challenge for automatic promotion this season.
They surprisingly got rid of Leon Knight and John Sutton midweek, Sutton quickly linking up with Motherwell which proves that Scottish Premier League sides are about as good as League Two level.
Wanderers have made a decent start to the season, taking four points from their opening two games, although virtually anyone could beat Chester City at the moment. However, the Chairboys have a very tricky run of fixtures after the game against City, travelling to Chesterfield and Rochdale before ahome game with Brentford.
