Burch punched a ball clear before Gall was fouled by Taiwo, the subsequent free kick lead to a corner that found it's way back out to Scott Kerr. He floated the ball back into the box and LJL volleyed home for City's first League goal of the season and it was a goal that the Imps had certainly deserved. Frank Sinclair, who was only making his debut for the Imps, went off in the 26th minute to be replaced by Lee Beevers.
Rather unsurprisingly, Dagenham's first attack came soon after this was Sam Saunders caused a few problems. City launched a counter attack from this and Kevin Gall flicked the ball over Roberts, only to see his ball cleared. The clearance saw Mark Arber go down injured by his own player...and Dagenham were awarded a free kick.
N'Guessan tested Roberts with a low drive before the turning point in the game. N'Guessan sent a ball into the middle on the verge of half time and Ben Wright headed it into the net, only to have his effort ruled out for offside. The half time whistle blew at this point with the Imps having been the dominant side.
LJL was judged to be offside early in the second half before Gall tested Roberts from long range. A slow second half came to live just after the hour mark when after being second best for the entire game, Dagenham gained an undeserved equaliser when Ben Strevens looped a ball over the defence following a free kick. Taiwo almost completely turned the game around within a minute as he looped the ball over Burch, seeing his effort his the roof of the net.
City won a free kick on the edge of the box but it hit the wall and mistakes by Kovacs and Burch allowed Benson in, but his effort his both posts before going out for a goalkick. However, it wasn't long before Dagenham were ahead as Strevens headed home from a corner, although Burch should have realistically done much better.
It wasn't long before it was 3-1 as Strevens capitalised on yet another mistake to hit it into an open goal, only to see Benson very sneakily take the goal away at the last minute.
