Much like City, they finished August looking like they might actually be heading towards a promotion season. They were 5th after the first month of the season. However, just three points from the five games September saw them slip down the table and it all went from there. They failed to record a single incident of going a month undefeated, but they did record three months without winning.
The most common scorelines in Luton's season were both defeats, 1-0 and 2-1. They suffered those scorelines on eight occasions, two more than the next most common, a 1-1 draw. They conceded four on three occasions and three on two occasions. Luton only score more than twice three times during the season. Wins of 3-0, 3-1 and 4-1. Other common scorelines were a 2-1 win, appearing five times during the season, and a 2-0 defeat coming on four occasions.
Only two sides failed to score as many goals as they did and only six failed to concede as many as them. In the league, the opponents scored first on 26 occasions, Luton failed to win any of those games, picking up just four points and easily the worst record in League One. Luton scored first 16 times, winning 11, drawing two and losing three, the 15th best record in League One.
Furlong and Spring were the joint leading goalscorers for Luton, hitting the net twelve times between them. Bell and Parkin scored five times each, Andrew and Edwards on four each, Fojut on three and Currie, Emanuel and Talbot each on two. Nine players scored just one goal and Luton were also at the benefit of an own goal.
