Gary Croft signed at Lincoln City after being released by Grimsby Town last summer, his only season at Sincil Bank won't live long in the memory for the right reasons. 2 red cards and long spells out with injury ultimately proved his downfall and he was released at the end of the 2007/8 season.

Gary Croft will never go down as a Lincoln City legend, many fans thought that didn't make many positive contributions. I personally don't think he was as bad as some people made out...but he wasn't that good either. He seemed very reluctant to make tackles and this often lead to the attacker getting around him.
He conceded 10 free kicks in the 2007/8 season, but you could argue that only happened because of his reluctance for tackle. It seems almost strange that he was sent off twice (once for two yellows) and was booked a further two times.
The one good thing about Croft was that he could take a decent set piece. He started being the main taker of free kicks towards the end of the season and he set up several chances. However, this was one of the few good things about his season and I feel that releasing him was relatively justified because we can do much better.
