Lincoln City won a game at Chester City that had virtually everything. It had a missed penalty, red card, goalkeeper substitutions and most importantly, a come from behind victory. City went behind the 19th minute but were ahead by the time that the 22nd minute came around and this result guarantees that the Imps will be playing League 2 football next season.

Lincoln City got the game underway and he won a free kick within a few seconds of the game kicking off. The delivery was caught by Danby and City had squandered an early chance. Dodds forced the former Kidderminster keeper to come out early and smother the ball at his feet.

Chester seemingly always get a dodgy decision against the Imps and it only took four minutes for it to happen this time. A weak header back from Beevers saw McManus run onto it and he flicked the ball over Marriott but realised it was going wide, he subsequently ran into Marriott and the referee awarded a penalty. Kevin Ellison stepped up to the spot but his kick was weak and Marriott dealt with it at the second attempt.

Marriott saved a chance from Hughes following a corner but he all of a sudden started showing signs of injury. Hughes slid another effort wide before Marriott was replaced by Ayden Duffy who has an injury to his back.

Frecklington drilled a Dodds corner straight at a defender before Chester launched a counter attack. The ball fell to McManus and he flicked a ball past Duffy and the Imps were behind again. City have only once come from behind to get something this season so the chances of us getting anything were slim to say the least.

However, whilst the Chester fans were causing their first bit of news of the match, Jamie Forrester found himself in some free space in the box and he sent an effort past Danby and the Imps were level within a minute of going behind. It got better two minutes later as Croft sent in a free kick and Wright headed into the path of Forrester. He mishit his first attempt but his second crept past Danby and into the net. With the space of 4 minutes City have gone from behind level to behind being and then in front. It was a very odd game.

Dodds almost scored a third soon after but his shot was well saved by Danby. At this point Chester rejoined the game and Duffy had to be alert to save efforts from McManus and Murphy. N'Guessan was cautioned for dissent after he complained about a foul on him by Ellison.

Danby produced a brilliant save to deny a Forrester hatrick just before half time when the striker shot from close range at the back post following a Wright header. Pembleton was booked just before half time.

Vaughan replaced Kelly at half time for the hosts. Dodds went down injured after yet another rough challenge from Ellison. Chester were proving to be a surprisingly dirty team just minutes later when Beevers was hacked down by Murphy. City were denied a penalty when N'Guessan when down in the area following a sandwich from two Chester defenders.

Duffy saved well at the feet of Murphy before Ridley cleared a Sandwith corner before good work from Pembleton and Freck provided City with a chance. They gave Croft the ball and he ran into the area unmarked but instead of shooting he tried to give Wright the ball, the ball was missed by the striker though. Forrester then fired over the bar from just inside the box before another controversial incident.

Wilson was suddenly seen to be laying on the floor with N'Guessan near him. No-one in the ground seemed to see this incident but the referee sent Dany off and City were down to ten men for the 8^th time this season. Rule replaced Rutherford before Hughes was booked for a challenge on Ridley. Hone replaced Pembleton for the Imps as the Imps tried to make the defence more solid.

Sandwith fired a free kick straight at the wall before Rule hit the underside of the bar and Linwood sliced the rebound. Ellison then had a shot well saved by Duffy before the former City man hit another chance well over the bar. King replaced Forrester for the Imps.

Moses headed a chance off of the line before Wright charged down a Danby clearance and he almost latched onto it as it hit the striker's lower regions. Ellison volleyed another chance over before Murphy's header was claimed by Duffy.

Chester couldn't find an equaliser before the game was over and City had claimed the points in a game that had virtually everything.
