Barnet kicked of the game but City forced the game's first corner after just two minutes. In typical Lincoln City style it was wasted and Barnet launched a counter attack from this. Mark Stallard, in one of the few occasions he put in effort, latched onto a Hone ball but his leb went over the line. Adomah smashed well over from close range.
Marriott made a rare save in this game as Thomas and Adomah's shots went straight at him. Stalled chipped just over before Forrester's cross missed everyone. Ridley stopped a run on goal for Thomas before Hone gave the hosts a free kick. Birchall eventually shot the well worked set-piece over the bar.
Ridley cleared but the hosts did gain the lead just before the half hour when Adam Birchall ran onto a long ball and slotted neatly under Marriott. It was the 3rd time since promotion back to the League that Barnet had taken the lead against the Imps, could City make it 3 out of 3 for times that they've come from behind to beat Barnet? No.
Dany N'Guessan gave up chasing a ball that would have almost certainly resulted in a goal and from that the hosts took a 2-0 lead. It came via the spot when Ridley brought down Adomah and the striker placed it past Marriott. Green was replaced by Brown due to injury.
Thomas wasted a good chance when he blazed over from close range but it wasn't long before it was 3-0. Thomas calmly putting the ball into the net after breaking free of the defence. Already the game was looking out of City's reach.
John-Lewis replaced Dodds but it took just 40 seconds of the second half to make it 4 as Birchall pounced on yet more bad defending and hesitant goalkeeping to prod the ball home. It was at this point that City realised that they might actually have to put some effort in. N'Guessan had a rare shot for the Imps deflected out for a corner, a subsequently wasted corner might I add.
Mark Stallard either jumped or simply fell over when Jamie Forrester crossed the ball in before Stallard wasted an easy chance when he shot straight at the keeper from 6 yards out. Beevers requried treatment for some time before N'Guessan and Clarke had chances wasted.
From this Barnet counter-attacked and Max Porter showed the visitors how to do it when he made it 5 with a low effort from the edge of the area. Birchall shot just wide before N'Guessan headed straight at Harrison from a Kerr free kick. Kerr was then booked for a foul on Josh Wright.
Gillett was brought off for Punchon before Mark Stallard being taken off the pitch was met with ironic cheers from City fans, he was replaced by Ben Wright. Within a minute Wright had scored. He tapped home following good work from Forrester.
Wright scored his second just minutes later when he latched onto a through ball and hit a decent finish frm the edge of the box.
City failed to create any more reasonable chances and it was the first time since a 5-0 defeat at Leyton Orient in 2001 that City have conceded 5 in a League (non-playoff) game.
