Lincoln City beat a surprisingly lacklusture Wycombe side thanks to a brilliant strike from Louis Dodds. Alan Marriott didn't have a single save to make but his counterpart was kept very busy. City had many chances after the goal to extend the lead but in the end they had to settle for just a single goal win, making it 7 wins from the last 9 games.

City kicked off the game and forced a chance early on as John-Lewis' effort blocked before Dodds was frustrated by Fielding. Green set up Forrester for a chance but his effort was palmed and Wright headed over the bar. Clarke came close to scoring his first City goal in the 9th minute following good work from John-Lewis.

Doherty cleared a City free kick just after the quarter hour before Wycombe took a rare journey into City's half of the pitch. They forced a chance as McCracken blazed over the bar, the Stacey West stand, the car park and the houses behind, not a bad effort if you were a rugby player.

Wycombe's Leon Knight was then booked for an off the ball foul on Beevers. After some minutes of treatment the defender was able to continue. John-Lewis hit the ball just wide when shooting across box following a Forrester ball.

Hone was the next to recieve treatment as Wycombe seemed determined to injury as many of our players as possible. Within a minute of him returning to the pitch and Scott Kerr was down injured. Martin volleyed wide for the visitors. From the resulting goalkick Wright found himself released on the left and his cross-goal shot went agonisingly wide.

Neither side could manage another shot and they went into half time goalless.

City's first chance of the second half came within a minute as John-Lewis and Forrester combined for the latter to see a shot go just wide. Bloomfield shot wide but the game was very quiet. On the hour mark, Dodds' corner was headed over by Beevers before N'Guessan replaced in the ineffective Wright.

Neil Lennon shot well over before City then took a fairly deserved lead. Dodds played a ball out onto the right to John-Lewis, he in turn returned it to Dodds and on the on-loan striker sent a beautiful curling effort over and around Fielding to score for the second week in a row.

N'Guessan forced Fielding into a save and McCracken cleared with Forrester ready to pounce. Bullock replaced Lennon with just over 10 minutes to go before Fielding again stopped the Imps extending their lead, this time it was John-Lewis who he thwarted.

John-Lewis, N'Guessan and Forrester worked well again to create another attack that N'Guessan put just over. Sutton replaced Woodman for Wycombe. Then came the miss of the season so far. John-Lewis and N'Guessan linked up again and the latter forced Fielding to parry the ball straight into the path of Forrester. The striker had an open goal to aim at and he found the Stacey West car park. It was an astonishing miss.

City saw out the game comfortably and the 1-0 scoreline really doesn't show how comfortable this game was.
