Paul Green is a rarity at Sincil Bank, a player who signed from a Premiership club. Green was arguably the best signing for the Deehan and Schofield era and after a bit of a sticky start, has now turned into one of City's most consistant performers, earning praise from many sections of the Lincoln City fans.
Joined From : Aston Villa
Debut : Lincoln City 1 Peterborough United 0 - 27/1/2007
Final Game : Lincoln City 0 Aldershot 3 - 7/5/2011
Green joined on the same day as Dany N'Guessan. Green was a highly rated defender whilst at Aston Villa and his signing was something of a coup. His first season at Sincil Bank was mixed though, often caught out of a position and he was used by some fans as a scapegoat for City's collapse during that season.
The 2007/8 season was somewhat different though as was a regular in the first team and impressed many with his tackling. Despite that, he was probably the most under-rated member of the squad as he was part of a defence that conceded on a regular basis, but the goals rarely come from his side.
2008/9 saw much of the same before a serious leg injury in the 2009 pre-season saw him suffer bad leg injuries and he would only made intermittant appearances throughout the 2009/10 season.
He signed a new one year contract in 2010 but yet another injury plagued season in 2010/11 eventually saw him released at the end of that season. He was the longest serving player at the time.
Interestingly enough, City did lost when Paul has scored.
