Lincoln deservedly beat a poor Notts County side 2-1 to record their first win since August 25th. Goals from Wright and Freck either side of Silk's stunner secured City's first win in 14 League games. City edged most of the game and played as a team for once. Each player put a lot of effort in and it makes a nice change following the recent few months of them not seemingly bothering.

City had the better of the opening periods, with Paul Green sending in a cross that was met by the head of Wright, the striker seeing his effort going just over the bar. A fast start from City also saw Wright just fail to connect with a Forrester cross and then Dodds tested Pilkington from the edge of the box. Owain Warlow, guilty of doing sod all during all of his opening appearances this season, actually did something when he shot straight at Pilkington.

Myles Weston produced Notts County's first attack when he forced two corners in quick succession, neither came to anything though. Hector Sam first wide following a Croft clearance going straight to him before Ben Smith had to hold steady as Butcher tested him from long distance.

City's counter attack was catching a very lacklusture defence off guard and the Imps their first corner midway through the first half, Pilkington punching Warlow's delivery. Dodds volleyed straight at Pilkington before Freck's header was easily caught by Pilkington.

Warlow came close to his first ever City goal when the Imps won a free kick roughly 25 yards out of a goal. The ball was played to him and he sent a thunderbolt just wide of the target. Notts County came forward a bit after this but all their efforts to score were far from dangerous and it was the Imps who took a deserved lead just before half time.

A free kick was chipped goalwards by Moses and the defence failed to connect with it, the ball falling to Ben Wright who had the simple task of tapping into the goal from 6 yards out, the first time City had taken the lead in a game since October 20th. That was the final noteworthy action of the first half.

City almost forced a second straight away as a corner was hit straight to Freck 30 yards out, his first time shot sailing over the net. Dodds caused the next attack for City and had it not been for a good save from Pilkington then it would have been 2-0.

So, City had been dominating, wasted several chances to go 2-0 up.....and then Notts County equalise with their first decent chance when Gary Silk smashed the ball in from 25 yards out. Mackenzie fired just ovcer from a free kick.

After a minute or two of County being on top, it was City who again started to dominate. Green fired just wide following some good work from Wright. Freck had a shot blocked by Tann before Warlow was replaced by N'Guessan.

A brilliant one-two between Wright and Freck saw the latter run at goal and he shrugged off challenges from 3 players to smash the ball in from just inside the area and City were finally back into a lead that they deserved. This promoted McParland to bring Weir-Daley on for Hector Sam.

Tann was booked for a foul on N'Guessan and that was the final noteworthy action of the game following a nerve-destroyed last few minutes. City fans, players and management all celebrated like they'd won the League.
