Morecambe got the game underway and within 3 minutes they won a corner. Baker hit the top of the bar from this corner. City won a corner when good work between Torpey, Ryan and Freck saw Dodds get the ball, his shot was palmed out for a corner. Surporise surprise, it was wasted.
Hand and Kerr both had decent efforts blocked before Torpey headed into the arms of Lewis. Dodds was almost gifted a free run on goal before Bentley made a last ditch tackle. Kerr's free kick was caught by Lewis.
City took a deserved lead in the 23rd minute after Amoo pounced on a good Ryan ball to smash home from about 10 yards out. It was no more than the Imps deserved after dominating against the very poor Morecambe side. City had several mini chances after this to double the lead and it was a return of the dominant Lincoln from early last season. This was probably due to the dropping of Nat Brown, easily the most over-rated hoofer in the club's history.
Hand's 25 yarder hit Ollie Ryan, the striker tried to control the ball but failed before Lewis was at his feet....and within a minute the Imps conceded the most undeserved goal seen so far this season. Gary Thompson sent in a cross to the box, and with no-one in the box it appeared as though City would have a comfortable time clearing it.......wrong. Alan Marriott went down to get the ball, but Beevers stuck his leg out just in front of Marriott and tapped it into his own net. It was the first realistic chance that the visitors had come their way.
City came close once or twice to re-establishing a lead, but failed to take any of these and someone the sides went into the break level.
The Imps tried a new tactic from their kick off as Scott Kerr tried to weave his way through the defence. It worked but he sent his shot high into the Stacey West stand. Bencharif headed wide from a Frecklington corner before Hand had two goal bound efforts deflected out for corners. Dodds was replaced by N'Guessan.
A rare foray into the Imps half saw Morecambe force a corner, but with only 2 attackers in the box it was easy for the Imps to clear the ball. Ollie Ryan overhead kicked the ball into the Stacey West following a cross from N'Guessan. Twiss was reaplced by Newby with 14 minutes to go. N'Guessan headed wide from a free kick.
City continued to dominate the game but couldn't get a deserved winner, meaning City remain in the relegation zone but are also on a 2 match unbeaten run (and a 7 match winless run).
