City get it wrong yet again against Bradford
By Nathan Jackson September 7 2007
Lincoln City put in another predictably rubbish performance to record a 4th defeat in the first 6 games this season as the Bradford City came from behind to win 2-1 at Sincil Bank. Other than a very debateable goal the Imps rarely threatened as the visitors camped themselves in the Imps half for the vast majority of the game, deservedly winning the game with a 79th minute winner.

The first decent chance of the game came when Donovan decided to go walkabouts for some reason and the ball fell to Forrester about 30 yards out from an open goal, but instead of shooting he just stands there trying to look for a player to pass to. Forrester did have a shot a few minutes later, but he grass-cutter was well saved by Donovan.

The game went quite quiet with neither side having many noteworthy chances. The Imps were slightly the better team during this time but couldn't create any chances, forcing a few corners here and then. However, the Imps did take the lead soon afterwards.

The Imps took the lead in somewhat controversial circumstances as a goalmouth scramble saw N'Guessan, Stallard, Forrester and Freck all have chances in the 6 yard box before the ball fell to Dodds, his smashed the ball goalwards but it appeared that Donovan had saved the shot. However, the linesman was then seen frantically waving his flag and a goal had been given despite the ball not appearing to go over the line.

It wasn't long before Bradford were level though as Daley brushed past Amoo in the box and Marriott came out, Daley rolled the ball to Ndungu-Nsungu and the former Sheffield Wednesday striker had an open goal from 6 yards to shoot into. Bradford then had a goal disallowed for offside.

A brilliant cross field ball from Amoo saw N'Guessan left with a one-on-one against Donovan and the midfielder only need to lift the ball over, however N'Guessan made absolutely no effort to get to the ball and in an incredible display of laziness, just allowed Donovon to come out and clear the ball.

Lee Frecklington came close to opening his account for the season but his 25 yard thunderbolt rattled back off of the post.

N'Guessan was booked and then came the first indication that Schofield had given up as he brought on Warlow for N'Guessan and surprise surprise, it was 2-1 to Bradford soon after. The winning goal came in the 79th minute when a break down the right hand side saw 3 players within 2 yards of the winger and not a single one of them made an attempt to get the ball, he rolled it through to Colbeck and he rolled it calmly under Marriott and it was 2-1 to Bradford.

Conlon replaced Thorne for the visitors before Nix replaced the impressive Omar Daley. Croft and Dodds were then replaced by Torpey and Kerr, with the former almost opening his account from the edge of the area, only to see his shot blocked by a defender.

City had a great chance to quickly pull level when they broke 4 on 2 against the defence, but rather unsurprisingly the Imps seemed afraid to shoot and tried to pass the ball into the net. It eventually fell to Torpey just 6 yards out but it was obvious he wasn't expecting it and was tackled before he could get his shot away.

The last chance of the game went the Imps way, a free kick about 25 yards out rather unsurprisingly hit the first defender and the game petered out from here as Bradford were declared winners.
