Watford end City's winning at Sincil Bank
By Nathan Jackson August 5 2007
Watford ended City's run of 6 wins in pre-season by winning 2-1 at Sincil Bank, inflicting City's second defeat of the summer with both goals scored through poor defending. Oliver Ryan did win plaudits for his performance after coming on as a second half substitute, scoring the only City goal and almost scoring a brilliant second.

A blisteringly warm day started with the visitors dominating the early exchanges between the sides and they took a deserved lead when City's defence failed to clear the ball sufficiently and Ewan Clark placed the ball past Marriott.

It was 2-0 before long as Steve Kabba headed in a brilliant cross from the left and there were times Watford looked like they could score4 or 5 before the half was out.

The second half belonged to the Imps though as chance after chance was wasted before multiple substitutions were made, and not for the first time in pre-season the performance improved after this.

Following good work from Frecklington saw him have a good shot parried and Oliver Ryan pounced on the rebound to pull City back to 2-1. He almost scored a brilliant equaliser as his lob from 35 yards hit the post.

The game ended 2-1 to Watford and was the final pre-season game before the season begins next week.
