First team wins yet another friendly
By Nathan Jackson July 24 2007
City's first team made it 4 wins from 4 in the pre-season with a 1-0 victory over French side, Pau FC. Steve Torpey scored his first goal in an Imps shirt thanks to a header from N'Guessan's cross. It was an entertaining game going by reports, but most importantly it's yet another positive step ahead in the preparation for the 2007/8 season.

N'Guessan continued his claim for a starting place against Shrewsbury in two weeks by setting up yet another chance for a goalscorer, this time it was Steve Torpey to benefit from his endeavour with a header entering the net in the 24th minute.

That was the only goal of a very difficult game for the Imps who were stretched all the way by their French counterparts. It is the 4th victory in a row for City in the pre-season, following victories against Lincoln United, Grantham and Genet D'Anglet. City have lost just once this pre-season but that was the youth team who played in the 3-0 defeat at Retford last Tuesday.

City next travel to Sleaford on Thursday night, followed by a trip to Boston on Saturday. Scunthorpe visit Sincil Bank in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup next Wednesday before a friendly against Watford on Sunday 5th.
