Where Do You Think You're Going? Bradford City
By Nathan Jackson May 28 2007
Lincoln City will go to a ground that holds bad memories for both clubs during the 2008/9 season as the Imps head to Valley Parade of Bradford City. The Imps will be hoping to avenge last season's defeat to Bradford at VP, especially as it was a game that the Imps had dominated from start to finish (I'm starting to sound like Keith Alexander now).

Valley Parade, or the Bradford and Bingley Stadium as it is now known, has been completely transformed and is one of the largest grounds in the division. Unfortunately, having a large ground seems to leave the Bradford fans in awe, that could be one of the few reasons why they have very little atmosphere. Infact, they didn't sing at all in the 2007/8 meeting.

Please note that I have read differing reports about the friendliness of Bradford City fans. Some have said they’re amongst the nicest in football but others have said that they’ve rarely had worse away day because of the local fans. Infact, I have a friend who used to help out with Grimsby Town's disabled fans. He told me that on one visit, Bradford fans verbally abused the disabled supporters that he was helping into the ground.

The club shop at the ground is big but has sweet F/A inside of it that would interest a collector of football items, other than a programme or two. The memorial to the Bradford Fire is located next to the club's reception. There are very few other things to do around the ground. There's the odd pub here and there, but other than that it's a pretty dead and dull area.

To get to the ground via road is relatively easy once inside Bradford. Leave the M62 at Junction 26 and take the M606 for Bradford. At the end of the motorway, keep to the right hand lane and follow the signs. The vast, vast majority of streets around the ground are permit holders only. Thankfully the road that the ground is actually on is about 3/4 mile and there's plenty of opportunities to find a parking space on there.
