City have only visited Accrington Stanley twice in the lifetime of a lot of Imps’ fans, the first coming in February of 2007. That day ended with a 2-2 draw as City dominated the game but were pegged by twice. The second was City's 3-0 win there during the 2008/9 season.
The terrace at Accrington offers a fair view of the action and you can also choose to watch the action from the side of the pitch. If you want to stand up at the side then just following the terracing around to the side, be warned though that there is not terraced steps behind this and you are at ground level.
The atmosphere at the Fraser Eagle isn't exactly great. It's hard to create an atmosphere in the away end due to the lack of a roof, an addition of a roof hasn't improved the noise from the home terrace at the opposite end of the pitch. However, Accrington fans are friendly in general and you should really have no problems during the day.
There’s not a lot to do around the ground and pubs are few and far between around the area. The nearest pub that allows away fans in is called The Crown and is located on nearby Whalley Road, walking further down that road is The Greyhound, but these are your only two options. In terms of getting to the ground, if you’ve got a sat-nav then it will probably be your best friend, but just incase ;
From the M65: Leave the M65 at jct 7, taking the Clitheroe turn off the roundabout. Turn right at the 1st set of traffic lights opposite Clayton Business Park, following the A678. Follow the road over the canal bridge to the next set of traffic lights. Turn right again going over the motorway bridge and towards Accrington on the A680. Carry straight on at the next set of lights with the Greyhound pub on your right. Follow the road as it bends to the right and then take the 1st left after the Crown pub into Livingstone Road.
From M66: At the end of the M66 follow the A56 until you come to the Rising Bridge roundabout. Take the 1st turning, the A680 towards Accrington for around 3 miles. After passing the police and fire stations on the left follow the ring road dual carriageway around the town centre, through the pelican crossing and three sets of traffic lights. At the 4th set of lights, opposite the Castle pub, turn right to rejoin the A680. Follow this road up the hill for approximately 1 mile, Livingstone Road is approx 400yds past Accrington Victoria Hospital on the right.
Fortunately though, the car parking is quite easy around the area, although you are mainly restricted to street-parking. Just be careful not to park too closely to the curb as you won’t be able to open your door properly. There is a car park behind the away stand which holds about 400/500 cars. This is probably the most secure option for your car as stewards patrol this car park during the game.
