Herd was my favourite player from the 2009/10, the loanee from Aston Villa was one of the catalysts for improved performances and there were talks for a long time about him coming to City permanently, a move that appears extremely unlikely.

Chris Herd was one of the most exciting players I have seen in a City shirt. If you combine Frecklington's skill, with Dean Keates' jinking ability and Francis Green's speed, you'd have Chris Herd.

The young Austrailian made his debut against Northwich in the FA Cup and everyone was impressed. He quickly became established as the best outfield player City had at the time and he also became one of City's primary transfer targets.

He then suffered a little injury and came back a bit ball-greedy, shooting from distance and becoming a bit iritating to watch on occasions. However, he was still arguably our best outfield player in the days of BS (Before Somma) and even he admitted that he would welcome a permanent move to Sincil Bank.

After the arrival of Somma however, talk of Herd coming permanently died down and the injury he sustained at Notts County was pretty much the last time that anyone saw or heard about about him.

I would still love to bring him here permanently, but I'd be surprised if he ever did.

Very good player when played down the middle of midfield. Tenacious, skilfull, can defend and attack. Quality player, but one we are unlikely to get.

Technically the most gifted player we had on loan including Somma in my opinion.
If he does go out on loan again it will surely be to League 1 or Championship.

Brilliant between December and February (before he got injured) but lost his way after Sutton kept playing him out of position up-front or on the wing. He was a good partner for Kerr in centre-midfield, but if I had to choose between pushing the boat out and paying a £50,000+ fee for him or Somma, I'm afraid it would be Somma every day of the week.
