Brian Gilmour joined the Imps in November but it took him a whilst to establish himself as a player who could come into the first team. The young Scot has had a collection of mixed performances so far, sometimes playing well and being anonymous for the rest of the time.

I find myself writing this with the surprise that Gilmour has been offered a new contract. If you'd have said to be a few months ago if he deserved a new contract then I would have said yes, but in the final month of the season he was completely anonymous and didn't contribute at all really.
The only thing I can actually recall him doing in the final month or two is missing the target altogether when put through one on one at Aldershot. I can't think of another player who seemingly got worse as the season went on.
When he started he was energetic and looked dangerous going forward, eventually scoring against Bradford and his reactions after he missed the penalty at Grimsby showed someone with appetite, so god knows what happened.
As I said, I was surprise that he was offered a new contract given how he ended the season.
