Martin Gritton

Manager Terry Skiverton has confirmed that he will open talks with striker Martin Gritton this coming week, after finally admitting interest in the Chester player.

The rumours began roughly ten days ago that 32 year old Gritton was to have a three-day trial with the Glovers, and the striker confirmed that on his Twitter page, despite Skiverton playing down the mentioning of Gritton's name.

But after yesterday's win over Exeter City boss Skiverton has they will begin talks with him, but insist it is not due to the what seems to be a long term injury picked up by Sam Williams yesterday when speaking to BBC Radio Somerset:

"It was happening (regardless of Sam Williams' injury) anyway. I'm speaking to Martin (Gritton) on Monday. You know with Alex Russell the way that he came on and affected the game in a positive way today as well, it shows you what that kind of experience does at this stage of the season. They've rested up well, as they haven't had much football and we're coming into a time when we're going to need them. So I'm speaking to Martin on Monday and we'll see what unfolds." 

Meanwhile Sam Williams will be sent for a scan to see the extent of his shoulder injury, although early reports seem to think that he will miss the remainder of the season.
