Yeovil travelled to the capital to face Charlton who last played the Glovers at the Valley in the FA Cup with the Green and Whites losing a epic game 3-2.

Yeovil replaced the injured Stefan Stam with Craig Alcock whilst Sam Williams retained his position to play agianst his former club along with Keiran Murtagh who could only make the bench.

The Somerset outfit began the stronger of the two sides and arguably should have taken the lead when Dean Bowditch played through Sam Williams who found himself through on goal. The ex-Addicks man hit his shot straight at the home keeper Rob Elliot who saved comfortably.

A similar scenario fell Charlton's way when Nicky Bailey raced through on goal but was thwarted excellently by Alex McCarthy who smothered the ball before the Charlton player could shoot.

The game was relatively even with the promotion chasing Charlton struggling to break down Yeovil. 

As previous Sam Williams was again put through on goal this time by Shaun MacDonald but it resulted in the same outcome.

Yeovil were seemingly lacking confidence in front of goal and continued to push the Addicks defence.

The second part of the first half began with the deadlock finally broken approaching the 30th minute.

Charlton loanee Kyle Reid on-loan from Sheffield United ran through the middle of the pitch with little attempt to halt him, before hit a speculative effort from long range which seemed comfortable for McCarthy but the Reading man dropped the ball into his own net. 1-0.

Yeovil rallied and immediately hit back with a Craig Alcock header which was saved comfortably. The Yeovil captain then went on a mazy run which resulted in a great shot forcing Rob Elliot to scramble and watch as it flew just wide.

Half Time: Charlton Athletic 1-0 Yeovil Town

Charlton soon doubled their lead when yet more poor defending led to a goal. Therry Racon received a throw in and turned without challenge before slotting the ball across the box for David Mooney to slide home. 2-0.

Yet again the Glovers rallied and pinned back Charlton with some good attacking football, but failed to create any notable chances with a debatable penalty claim getting turned down after Sam Williams felt he was felled.

Yeovil made substitutions with Arron Davies and Andy Welsh being replaced by JP Kalala and Gavin Tomlin.

The Glovers seemingly ran out of ideas and Charlton eventually became comfortable. This was the 3rd match in a row which Yeovil have failed to score in, however, they are still creating chances. Terry Skiverton will be left ruing missed chances whilst the game was at 0-0. Something Yeovil will hope to correct before the visit of MK Dons.
