After almost a year Huish Park witnessed a goalless draw in what can only be described as a poor game. Despite Yeovil receiving the boost of signing Arron Davies in mid-week, the Welshman sat in the stands as the unlucky 6th loanee with the only change to the side from last week's 4-1 demolition of Wycombe being Ryan Mason replacing the injured Gavin Tomlin.

After the impressive away win at Wycombe, the Glovers continued with the 4-4-2 formation with Gillingham playing a 4-5-1 with the sole point of halting Yeovil's attacking play.

The first half was a terrible show of League One football with both sides looking defensively strong but lacking up front.

The half was dominated by stoppages and snap shots with Shaun MacDonald firing wide from outside the box. 

Dean Bowditch had a shot along with Gillingham forward Dennis Oli both failed to cause any trouble.

The crowd of 3,853 were left bemused by the performance and were no doubt relieved to hear the half time whistle.

Stefan Stam had to be replaced by Craig Alcock after receiving a knock early in the first half after colliding with a Gills' player.

After 45 minutes of nullifying football the second half began with more urgency with two chances falling within 60 seconds of each other.

Firstly Nathan Smith lopped in a cross which drifted goal wards only for 'keeper Alan Julian to flick onto his own bar.

Gillingham then went straight down the other end and matched the effort with Curtis Weston hitting the post after rounding 'keeper Alex McCarthy and seemingly having an open goal.  

That was as good as it got for both sides as a weak penalty claim from Sam Williams was waved away and several long drives from Mason drifted wide of the goal.

Neither side looked likely to break the deadlock and the game ended 0-0. The draw isn't a disaster for the Glovers as it keeps the five point gap between them and Gillingham but when taking into account the fact that before the game Gillingham had picked just three points up away from home the Glovers will be disappointed they couldn't break them down.
