Yeovil hosted struggling Wycombe hoping to fulfil all Yeovil fans Christmas wish of three points after three successive draws.

The game was delayed by five minutes when Yeovil President Gurnard Smith collapsed just before kick-off.

Like the game, the Glovers were slow in getting started with Wycombe looking the brighter of the two sides.  

With only a few minutes played a swift Wanderers attack was thwarted by a superb challenge from Stefan Stam.

The next chance also fell Wycombe's way with John Mousinho seeing his curling effort saved by the diving Alex McCarthy. 

However, as the game went past the five minute mark Yeovil began to come to life and Nathan Smith nearly opened the scoring when his shot nearly curled in after a strong run from the left back.  

With Wycombe pushing forward, they were open to the counter attack and were nearly punished on 8 minutes when a swift Yeovil move allowed Ryan Mason to chip a ball into Gavin Tomlin who chested on the edge of the box and immediately volleyed goal wards, only for it to drift just wide.  

The next chance wouldn't be out of place on Question of Sport when the referee Mr East virtually tackled Dean Bowditch on the edge of the Yeovil box leading to Jon-Paul Pitman seeing a sight on goal which he wastefully sliced wide.

From yet another counter attack Dean Bowditch ran clear of the Wanderers defence only to be denied by an emphatic challenge from a covering defender just as Bowditch was set to pull the trigger.

Yeovil were now in control of the match without really having to work too hard and Tomlin again spurned a glorious chance when he met a Ryan Mason free kick but failed to direct it goal wards.

Moments after the 25th minute Tomlin completed a hat-trick of misses when the Chariboys 'keeper Scott Shearer miss kicked a clearance which fell to Tomlin whose attempted lob drifted just over the bar- much to the relief of Shearer.

With a goal looking likely it nearly fell Wanderers way when Scott Davies found space in the box only to be denied by a great save from Alex McCarthy.

Five minutes later and the dead lock was broken. Wycombe failed to clear a Glovers corner and Keiran Murtagh volleyed home expertly from the edge of the box to mark his return to the starting line-up. 1-0.

After the goal Wycombe looked vulnerable and nearly fell further behind when a snap shot from Ryan Mason caught out Shearer only for it to fizz over the bar.

Just before half time Nathan Smith on yet another strong forward run nearly doubled the Glovers lead when his cross nearly flew into the goal.

Moments after the re-start and it was clear Terry Skiverton had told the Yeovil players to add more to their goal tally when Dean Bowditch nearly rounded of a very effective attack. Only for his weak effort to be saved.

Some good defencive tackles from Stefan Stam kept the Blues out but it was Yeovil who always looked likely to score.

And nearly did moments later when Dean Bowditch released Ryan Mason down the left wing who slid the ball across goal to the awaiting Keiran Murtagh whose effort was cleared off the line excellently by Chris Westwood.

Topping off a very fast start to the second half was a goal saving challenge by captain Craig Alcock, after Jon-Paul Pitman had rounded McCarthy and looked certain to score only to be foiled by Alcock.

Despite Yeovil's dominance in the second period, the Glovers most effective mode of attack was the counter attack most of which being led by Dean Bowditch who at times seemed reluctant to sprint. 

On the 58th minute Bowditch nearly grabbed a deserved goal when he narrowly missed a brilliant Sam Williams cross.

With the game becoming dominated by missed chances, another chance went missing when Ryan Mason could not find the goal after Bowditch had originally been denied by 'keeper Shearer.

Wycombe were not about to roll over and made an attacking change bringing on former Weymouth striker Stuart beavon for Matt Phillips. 

With the one goal advantage not looking totally secure, Skiverton threw on Jon Obika for Dean Bowditch. Who left the field to a loud round of applause. 

Wanderers linger 23rd in the league and were fighting to get out of a relegation battle which was shown by former Glover LUke Oliver whose looping header which produced a world-class save from McCarthy. Who at 1-0 was keeping Yeovil ahead.

Before Yeovil could muster any attack the Chairboys again brought the best out of MCarthy who denied Chris Westwood with another extraordinary save.

With twenty minutes remaining Yeovil doubled their lead when Jon Obika was released down the left wing and slotted across the box for combative midfielder John-Paul Kalala to tap in from 3 yards to get his first Yeovil goal since rejoining the club. 2-0.

Wanderers reacted by replacing Pitmam with another ex-Glover Matt Harrold.

Just two minutes after Yeovil's second goal there was another when John-Paul Kalala returned the favour by threading through a pin point pass to Jon Obika. The loanee ran clear of the Wycombe defence and calmly slot through Scott Shearer's legs to net his 3rd goal in 5 games. 3-0.

With the game now won Terry Skiverton replaced both Gavin Tomlin and Ryan Mason who were replaced by Scott Murray and Andy Welsh respectively.

On the 82nd minute it was nearly four when Murray just on whipped a free kick just wide of the goal.

Yeovil were now rampant and topped off a brilliant second half performance when yet again the Glovers broke free down the left this time Andy Welsh setting up Sam Williams who tapped in to make it 4-0 and grab his 2nd goal in as many games. 4-0.

Yeovil played out the remaining ten minutes and held on to a requested clean sheet to leave manager Terry Skiverton thrilled and with very few complaints. Yeovil travel to Swindon on Monday and will hope to continue their winning run in their 300th league game.
