As was to be expected, Walsall are one of the seeded teams for tomorrow's Carling Cup draw, by virtue of having been a First Division club last season. The first round of the Carling Cup is done on a regional basis and with team also being seeded. Walsall have been placed in the Northern Section this season (being in the Midlands, we can move berween the two sections) and have been seeded on the basis of having been in a higher division last season.

It does not necessarily mean an easy draw, however, as our opponents could included any of the following:-

Blackpool; Oldham Athletic; Sheffield Wednesday; Stockport County; Chesterfield; Grimsby Town; Notts County; Doncaster Rovers; Hull City; Huddersfield Town; Mansfield Town; Lincoln City; Bury; Darlington; Macclesfield Town; Rochdale; Scunthorpe United; Chester City; Shrewsbury Town
