Merse is being linked with a move to manage Brighton. Paper talk or a truth? Brighton say its just a rumour. New Page 1

Paul Merson has been linked with the managerial position at Brighton. Reports in todays press have suggested that the Seagulls are lining  Merse up to be there playing manager.

Brighton moved quickly to deny he was on there shortlist, and that the Saddlers star was not on his way to the south coast. This is the kind of story we have to expect because it is no secret that he has managerial aspirations.

A club like Brighton with a footballing tradition and a healthy league position is the kind of club that could well tempt our very own superstar elsewhere. At least if he did leave we would be due a bit of compensation or a fee.

Our readers have already given there opinions on this story

Geoff Whitting - Merson certainly won't want to get back into daily long-distance commuting, nor moving permanently down south as he and his family are so well-settled in Sutton Coldfield.

Rushall Saddler - Merson could well be interested in the post, but he did want to move back to the Midlands to be spend more time with his family that's why we acquired his services, there again he is a Londoner and Brighton aint that far away from there

Warrington Saddler - i dismissed this idea because the reason he joined us was to be nearer his family but on the other hand he said in interviews that he wanted to learn the coaching side by working with cl.i am inclined to think he will stay with us and i hope he doesn't have one of his famous outbursts and says im off.
