Coventry City made it seven points from nine, as their surge up the table continued….

The first half was almost devoid of anything worthy of note, except for a disallowed McGoldrick ‘goal’, leaving the home support almost silent throughout. Some of the passing was shockingly bad, as was the decision making all too often.

The Bournemouth supporters (One of whom was enjoying the match so much he fell asleep), who were either in fancy dress or employ Stevie Wonder as their wardrobe assistant, were in better voice, taunting the sleeping home support with chants of ‘Your Ground’s To Big For You’ (As if they had just come up with said ditty).

Said lack of action gave me time to ponder exactly why there are life rafts in the closed off section of the away turnstile are (Answers on a postcard?) - turnstiles that for some reason seemed to massively impress the away support!

On 25 minutes, Murphy’s mis-judgement when coming out to clear a hopeful punt should have resulted in a goal, though Bournemouth spurned the chance by skewing the ball wide in front of a fairly open goal.

There was a few minutes of quality passing from the home side, just to show they are capable of it, though most of Coventry City's first half passing set up more Bournemouth moves than Bournemouth's passing.

Barton was replaced by Ball at half-time (A half-time that included highlights of the half on the big screen, which only under-lined how dismal it was), and Coventry City came out a different side. Quite whether this was down to the change in tactics, or a Robins blast, only those inside the dressing room will know.

Five chances were made in the first five minutes of the second half, with Wood’s miss, where he somehow hit the bar from a quality corner when it seemed easier to score, the pick of the bunch.

Bournemouth almost caught the home side with a counter attack on 55 minutes, with Murphy tipping their effort over the bar, and Murphy was also called upon in the 60^th minute.

Ball and McGoldrick (Who is quite clearly a class act) combined well minutes later, and the latter finished well, firing past David James in the Bournemouth goal.

Two lame pieces of defending in the last few minutes of the second half could once again have seen Coventry City throw away a lead (The first of which saw half-hearted penalty appeals), but Bournemouth failed to take their chances.
