If for no other reason, I really hope Coventry City make the right choice of manager this time, just so I don't have to hear that stupidest of questions for a while: 'But who would take the job? (There's no money, etc)'. The answer is: lots of people.

There are dozens of unemployed managers out there with egos that need massaging, that truly believe they could work a miracle at a club with our 'potential', and probably use us as a stepping stone to better things. And some of them could.

You only have to look at what Eddie Howe achieved at Bournemouth a few season ago to see what can be done with the right person in charge, when instead of taking Bournemouth into the Conference (As expected), he got them promoted to League One with a budget that makes our look like Manchester City's, and a squad so small they were almost picking substitutes out of the crowd.

Andy Thorn's sacking was always a question of 'when', not 'if'. He's a more than decent scout, but a poor manager. He brought in some decent players at this level over the summer, but, looked as if he didn't actually know what to do with them.

While some would say it was too soon to get rid of him, a mere four games into the season, it was clear nothing had changed. We were dire against Dagenham, lost possession 35:65 to Yeovil, we didn't turn up in the first half versus Sheffield United, and the second half versus Bury.

His decision to continue with the heavily dis-liked 'diamond formation', his inability to make substitutions at the right time, the level of fitness of the players, and the fact he could not motivate them to look decent for 90 minutes, were all clear to see last season, and still in evidence this.

I'm guessing the players must have mis-understood when Thorn said you can't play two decent halves. They must have taken it as an instruction rather than a challenge!

In my fourty years of watching Coventry City, I don't remember ever watching two halves so different as the Bury game. The first half was so one-sided in our favour it was embarrassing, the second was embarrassing because Bury made us look out of our depth in Division 3.

The one thing that had changed about AT was that he finally managed to recognise garbage when he saw it, admitting the second half last weekend was 'rubbish', rather than seeing a game nobody else did. Thankfully, that wasn't enough to justify him hanging onto his job!

These were (Usually) the same people moaning about how SISU are running the club too, yet gave no idea how to reduce the debt that is strangling Coventry City. They are (Usually) also the same people that moaned when SISU were silent and faceless, and who now moan every time Tim Fisher makes a statement!

And they are the same people that believe the team that Andy Thorn built isn't good enough. That's the team that just more than matched an almost full strength Birmingham City side in the cup. And beat them....
