Missing Match Reports : I

Trying to raise the enthusiasm to write match reports after each defeat isn't easy, so it's little wonder I haven't bothered for half a season....

v Peterboro : Peterboro recorded their first clean sheet of the season as Coventry City lost again. The away side were denied a blatant penalty, and hit the woodwork, but were undone by Sinclair's 65th minute goal following a Murphy parry, which should have been knocked out of play rather than back into the danger area (Dunn, anyone?). The final action of the game saw an unbelievable stop on the line by a Posh defender to deny Jutkiewicz (Obviously) a goal, and City a point. 

TEAM: Murphy, Christie, Hussey, Keogh, Wood, Thomas, McSheffrey, Gardner, Bell (Bigirimana 81), Jutkiewicz, Platt. SNU: Burge, Cameron, McPake, Jeffers. 

v Hull : Corey Evans first goal of the season (After another defensive error) was enough to see Coventry City slump to yet another defeat, this time at home to Hull. Ken Delieu managed to infuriate supporters even more by watching the match from the bench, as Coventry City gave a display described by at least one long time fan as: 'the worst I have ever seen' - some accolade, as there are plenty to choose from - and were rightly booed off when the final whistle blew. 

TEAM: Murphy, Keogh, Wood (Christie 78), Cranie, Cameron, Baker, Gardner, Thomas, McSheffrey (Bigirimana 66), Jutkiewicz, McDonald (Platt 46). SNU: Dunn, Bell. 

v Portsmouth : A pointlessly given away penalty by Murphy (Dunn, anyone?) gifted Pompey their opening goal, scored by Halford on 18 minutes. Jutkiewicz (Obviously) equalised on 54 minutes, but thoughts of actually gaining a point lasted a mere three minutes as Ward gave the home side the lead again. McSheffrey blew an excellent chance to equalise with the only the keeper to beat, as Coventry City slumped to the bottom of the table - a position they are likely to hold till the season ends. 

TEAM: Murphy, Keogh, Wood (Christie 77), Cranie, Cameron, Clingan, Baker, Gardner (McSheffrey 67), Bigirimana, Platt (McDonald 67), Jutkiewicz. SNU: Dunn, Bell. 

v Brighton : Richard Keogh's own goal after five minutes (Following a Clingan error, described by the local paper as 'rare', but picked up on by Brighton's spies prior to this match) was cancelled out by debutant Gary Gardner's equaliser four minutes later. Vincelot gave the home side the lead again after 36 minutes, helping Brighton to only their second win since September 10th. Brighton's fairly poor keeper was rarely tested, which might have been different had Thorn played Gardner in his preferred position, where he had recently scored a hat-trick for Aston Villa reserves, rather than in a position he had never played before. 

TEAM: Murphy, Christie (Wood 40), Hussey, Keogh, Cranie, Clingan, Gardner, Thomas (Bigirimana 52), Baker, Platt (McDonald 78), Jutkiewicz. SNU: Dunn, McSheffrey.
