Yeovil Town's dismal recent cup record was made a little worse, with the Glovers losing out 3-1 to Exeter City at Huish Park.

The Glovers continue to search for their first win since the opening day of the season, with ill discipline ruining their chances at home to the Grecians.

A small crowd of 2,954 paid their respects to Adam Stansfield, with chants of "There's only one Adam Stansfield" rippling through the fans.

It was the Glovers who began with the most vigour, with chances falling to Cameron Stewart and Owain Tudur-Jones early on.

Sam Williams then saw his glanced header from a corner fall just wide, which filled the Yeovil fans full of optimism.

But they were soon shocked when they fell behind, when a long Ryan Harley ball found Jamie Cureton who out paced Adam Virgo and calmly slotted past John Sullivan, giving them a shock lead. 0-1.

This saw the tide turn slightly, with the Grecians using the Glovers lack of pace at the back to their advantage.

Cureton soon raced through a second time, only to be denied by John Sullivan, before Liam Sercombe shot wide after receiving another long ball.

The Yeovil defence clearly hadn't learnt their lesson, as Cureton raced through a third time, again heroically denied by Sullivan, who was soon to unleash a barrage of abuse at his defence.

The shot ratio didn't reflect the game, with Yeovil dominating most of the possession.

Paul Huntington lashed a shot onto the bar, hinting it may not be the Glovers night.

This was confirmed when Sam Williams was shown a straight red card after coming together with James Dunne. It all started when Adam Virgo and Troy Archibald-Henville came together, with Williams needlessly getting involved resulting in a red card for the striker.  

Williams will now serve a three match ban.

Half Time: Yeovil Town 0-1 Exeter City

As often is the case when a team goes down to ten men, the Glovers began the brighter of the two sides in the second period.

Dean Bowditch was deployed as a loan striker, and it soon paid off when he played in Owain Tudur-Jones whose effort was saved, just, by 'keeper Paul Jones.

Andy Welsh looked lively on the right wing, and his trickery allowed space for Cameron Stewart, who lashed his shot wide of the goal.

With Exeter sensing a come back, they made two substitutions aimed at slowing the game down, whilst Yeovil brought on Luke Ayling for JP Kalala who appeared to be carrying a slight injury.

But their efforts were to no avail when Yeovil grabbed a deserved equaliser.

Dean Bowditch; causing mayhem in the Grecian defence, played a ball into the box, which was only half cleared, which Andy Welsh clinically tucked away. 1-1.

As the cliche goes your most likely to concede when you've just scored and this was the case when Cureton grabbed his second of the game latching onto a cross some 120 seconds after Andy Welsh's goal. 1-2. 

Moments later Richard Logan could have sealed the win, only for Sullivan's heroics once more.

Yeovil went all out for a second equaliser, introducing Luke Freeman and sending Adam Virgo up front.

But the gamble didn't pay off and in stoppage time Ryan Harley curled in a free-kick to seal the game. 1-3.

Yeovil crashed out of another cup competition, but more worryingly failed to revive that winning feeling. Skiverton will be pleased with his sides fight, and the circumstances meant a 3-1 defeat wasn't unexpected. The Glovers travel to Notts County on Saturday hoping to focus their attention back on their league campaign.
