It seems the only way CCFC will stay up this season is if they manage to not concede another throw-in, corner, or free-kick - hello League One is seems to be then. What is it about CCFC that they just cannot defend set-pieces?
Claus Jorgenson did enough to suggest he is worthy of a run in the side (Though in my opinion he should have been in most of last season too), scoring once, hitting the post on another occasion, and looking decent throughout. Other players looked as if they should suffer the same "frozen out" treatment CJ seemed to have endured recently though....
Having taken the lead early on through the ex-Bradford man, CCFC once again managed to collapse, conceding twice in two minutes - with one of the two goals, of course, being scored by Cresswell. CCFC signing him and sticking him in the reserves could save us a couple of points a season. Defending might also help our cause too....
Adie Williams was at fault for both goals (Just what have CCFC done to him that he has fallen so far, so fast, from the solid Championship defender we thought we had signed?), though the first PNE goal, a penalty, looked as if the original challenge might be just outside the area, and the second looked offside.
It looked as if CCFC's collapse was complete five minutes later, but, having failed to notice one offside, a goal from Agyemang (Following on from a stunning Steele save) was ruled out. A temporary reprieve....
Three minutes into the second half it was effectively game over as Lucketti made it 3-1 - handing PNE their third home win in four against CCFC since CCFC dropped down to play second tier football.
McSheffrey gave CCFC a glimmer of hope when he pulled a goal back after 72 minutes, and a Barrett effort late on almost snatched CCFC an unlikely point .... but he didn't.
That CCFC are once again relying on the three teams below to keep losing rather than looking capable of digging themselves out of the position they find themselves in shows how far we have fallen - and with so many games left, this wish lokos unlikely to be granted.
Anybody got Houdini's phone number?
