The Boss 'Anco' wasn't bothered about the result, all he wanted was a performance. He got a performance alright - Turgid, Insipid, Boring, Insulting - Basically rubbish. The result however could have been a lot different had the Russian officials not concocted a farce of errors that deprived Chelsea of TWO clear cut penalties, of which one of them was awarded. 

However the assistant on the nearside touchline overuled the referee and all Chelsea got, apart from the t-shirt, was a lousy corner.

The penalty incidents came in Chelsea's best spell of the match (all of fifteen minutes) in the first half. Kalou was the victim of the second incorrect decision when brought down by Diawara, the perpertrator of the first on Malouda, right in front of the goal-line official.

What on earth are these 'extra' officials there for?

And you wonder why I label the Champions League the CORRUPT CUP!!

We are not even at the knockout stages and the bad decisions against us have already started.

Chelsea got lucky last night when Heinze's headed goal was ruled offside and prior to that Marseille's playmaker Valbuena rattled Cechie boy's crossbar.

Still it took a soft Marseille goal to send the Blues crashing to a dispiriting and disappointing defeat. A soft cross took a mild deflection on its way through and Brandao stuck out a foot from close range to send the ball past Cech.

I am still not convinced that Wilkins' departure from the club has had anything to do with this slump in form.

Since the 1-0 win over Fulham, (the day before Wilkins left) Chelsea have only won once in seven games and that victory was a struggle against MSK Zilina, but what I found noticeable last night was that no-one tried to hang, draw or quarter the ref for the incorrect penalty decisions, although JT did have words to the ref about the first.

There was no passion, no desire. The was no shouting, no abuse (ala Barca 2009).

No-one appealed, no-one made a fuss so maybe because the game was a 'dead' rubber the players decided keeping quiet was the best option.

Still it makes me think that Ray Wilkins did more at Chelsea than Ron Gourlay and the board thought he did for his £130,000 p.a.

Tottenham, Man Utd, Arsenal and Bolton must be rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of meeting Chelsea during December and if Chelsea play like they did last night, damage limitation could be the order of the day.

Turgid and lacklustre....exactly as you say.

Essien is definitely off-spark (as are a number of others).

I cling in to the hope that as key players come back and those that are coming back get fit, the old Chelsea form will return - BUT how much more damage will occur before the dip is overcome?

Anyway...that long walk from the Seven Sisters followed by the abuse and Bale roasting whoever we have at right-back and a possible drubbing doesn´t make for a happy forthcoming weekend.....Which probably means we will win convincingly.



(You are wondering what drugs I am on at the moment no doubt?!)

No not really

I feel the same way. Am not looking forward to Sunday at all

Josh was excellent, apart from a couple of misplaced passes, he didnt put a foot wrong.

Still I doubt we will see much of him now, sadly
