Man City 5-3 Chelsea: Ultimate Respect from City

17yr old Reuben Loftus-Cheek received the ultimate respect from Man City late on Saturday night in New York as he was cynically kicked out the game by Messrs Toure, Kompany and Barry. A groin injury forced the youngster off before half-time after he gave City’s international midfield the complete runaround.

Loftus-Cheek said, “It’s a groin problem where the pain was too much to keep going. It’s frustrating because when you’re playing well you just want to keep going and that’s what I have to deal with at the moment. I can’t get too upset about it.

“I was confident and you have to have that when you’re playing in the first team, especially against a good side like City with top players. I tried to be confident and play like I do with the reserves and youth team.”

Chelsea were the masters of their own downfall conceding early when Oscar’s misplaced pass from a Hilario throwout landed straight at the feet of Aguero and although Hilario did well to make the initial save, Barry followed up to shoot the ball into the net.

From then on Chelsea were chasing the game.

It was an open and entertaining game with both teams creating lots of chances, but it was City who scored again when Nasri dinked one over the fallen Hilario.

City made a host of changes at half-time and it was Richard Wright who was picking the ball out of the net seconds into the second-half, when Ramires scored from a couple of yards out.

City went further ahead when Milner shot across Cech into the far post, then it was Chelsea’s turn to score again as Ramires bagged his second to make it 3-2.

Nasri scored City’s fourth after racing into the area from City’s left, then Mata executed a wonderful free-kick nine minutes from time and as Chelsea were harbouring thoughts of at least securing a draw, Dzeko smashed one in to make the final score 5-3.

Chelsea will be back in the States during August to play in an eight-team tournament alongside AC Milan, Inter, Juventus, Real Madrid, Valencia, Everton and LA Galaxy, this after completing a three match tour of Asia during July.
