Chelsea travel to Villa Park at lunchtime looking for the win that will secure Champions League football next season. Villa will be looking to secure their Premier League status albeit with a point or two . They are currently on 40 points, five points clear of the relegation trap door then they travel to Wigan next Sunday in the final game of the season.

Not only will Chelsea have to overcome against Villa’s recent upsurge in form, Chelsea will have to battle and ride the wave of emotion as the faithful turn out to acknowledge the retirement of their Captain Stiliyan Petrov.

Petrov announced his retirement on Thursday and whilst in remission from his illness he said, “The main thing is always your health. Obviously everybody wants to play football, but the most important thing in life is your health and your family.”

Gary Cahill who played alongside Petrov is his Villa days said, “It’s sad. I was privileged enough to play alongside him. He captained the side a few times when I was there.

“He’s a great leader, a great guy off the pitch and I’m sure if you speak to a lot of people they’d say the same.”
