Moses Sinks Tottensham

Pedro scores!

Good old Tottenham Coldspur were obliging yet again, as they left Stamford Bridge empty-handed for the umpteenth time in recent decades. To be precise, this was the mighty Spurs's thirtieth consecutive unsuccessful visit to Chelsea, comprising eleven defeats and nineteen defeats. However, for the second time in this calendar year, hyped Tottenham threw away a well-deserved lead and showed no backbone or nous when it came to preserving their advantage.

Instead, after being on the receiving end of away team domination for the first forty minutes, the league leaders plucked an equaliser out of nowhere, when Pedro curled a beautiful right-footed effort into the far corner of Lloris's goal. Then the hosts rubbed salt into the wounds of fragile Tottenham by scoring soon after the interval when Costa bombed down the left flank before playing the ball across the goals for a gratefully unmarked Moses to squeeze his attempt into the net. The norf London wannabes did their utmost to restore parity in the closing stages, but here was further proof of Chelsea's Premiership credentials. They demonstrated that they could absorb pressure and still keep their lead. They have trounced a few teams in recent weeks, but they have also prevailed in close contests, of which this was one. As a consequence, Conte's troops helped themselves to an impressive seven wins out of seven in the Premiership.

With a successful autumn campaign negotiated, the Premiership leaders now advance into December and the ravages of winter with the small matter of a visit to Manchester Mercenaries. If they can preserve their winning run against unconvincing City, then the blue juggernaut might prove to be unstoppable.
