It was a classic case of a match that we could so easily have won and a match that we could also have lost, so in the end perhaps escaping with a draw was no bad outcome, especially when the 'blacks' were trailing deep in the second half. However, the away team really should have put the fixture to bed and probably led about two-nil at the interval. In the event, our failure to shut the door on Swansea simply left a route back into the contest, which they duly took.

Diego Costa of course dominated the proceedings as only he can. He executed sweetly inside the first twenty minutes, then missed a sitter from a corner kick, and finally converted the equaliser with a lethal overhead kick from close range. Otherwise, he was fouled constantly but also ran the great risk of being sent off. In fact, it would be no exaggeration to state that Diego is a red card waiting to happen. Chelsea fans just have to decide whether the inevitable suspension(s) and injuries are a price worth paying for a red-hot marksman who could conceivably miss half the season, if the previous couple of years are anything to go by.

Elsewhere, Courtois had another stinker. His job is to keep the ball out of the back of the net, and well, he isn't doing his job very well from what I have observed. He drastically needs to pull his socks up. I think Chelsea fans are beginning to lose patience with the Belgian stopper, who seems incapable of stopping very much.

Meanwhile, Conte really should have used his substitutes a full ten minutes earlier, and it was most unfair to expect Batshuayi to come on at the death and make an impact from such crumbs of time left. Cahill was badly caught out and even fouled ahead of their second goal, but I think that folk lose sight of the stupid pass from Terry in the first place. Then the captain got himself injured, so David Luiz's return to the first team looks imminent.

Next on the horizon is a visit from our dear friends of Liverpoo. We need to be clinical against them, or else current leaders Manchester Mercenaries might start to drift over the Premiership horizon.
