Batshuayi Scores!

Well that was a very wooden and none too convincing performance from Chelsea, but the visitors contrived to come from behind with two goals in the last quarter of an hour. Perhaps the man most responsible for the late reversal in fortunes was playmaker Cesc Fabregas who was again restricted to the substitutes' bench. However, it was the triple replacements ploy of Conte which proved to be the necessary shot in the arm for a mediocre away team that rarely threatened Watford's goal.

Lo and behold Fabregas teed up Hazard for a well struck shot which ought to have led to a routine save for Gomes, but the stopper spilled his effort and there was young Batshuayi on hand to stroke home his first league goal for the team in white. Let's hope that it's the first of many. In fact the Belgian prodigy could have doubled his tally, but for the woodwork. However, there was to be no denying Diego Costa as he scored hiss econd very late winner of an eventful week when he calmly sidefooted beyond the despairing dive of the goalkeeper. The architect of the winner had again been his trusted supply line of compatriot Fabregas. It was Cesc who picked up the ball deep in Chelsea's half before releasing the centre forward with a fine pass that enabled Costa to prowl towards Watford's goal with devastating consequences.

The result was a bit flattering and tough on Watford. Nevertheless, two wins from two is a great start. One or two new acquisitions will still be required if Chelsea are to challenge the terrible twins from Manchester. Otherwise, the current top two will remain the top two come the end of May.
