Hazard scores!

The champions emulated their revenge missions against Crystal Palace and Southampton by defeating Bournemouth away from home, having previously succumbed to them at Stamford Bridge before Christmas. In so doing, the Londoners ascended to the dizzying Premiership perch of ninth, above Stoke City on goal difference, having achieved a rare south coast double over Southampton and Bournemouth.

A returning Eden Hazard doubled his goals tally for the season, while the more prolific Pedro and Willian inflicted the rest of the damage. It is true that Bournemouth rallied well either side of half time, as they threatened to nullify a previous two goal deficit. However, their efforts ran out of steam, and a clinical Chelsea basically scored from any meaningful incursion deep in enemy territory. This was not a vintage Chelsea win by any means, but flattering or otherwise, it represents a morale-boosting foundation, as the Londoners prepare for four important fixture commitments in May. Whoever said that our season would merely peter out was badly wrong.
