Chelsea Complete Double Over The Wannabes

Fool Mertesacker

Chelsea fans can rejoice and gloat at another routine win against hyped Arse-nil, but the result still papered over some cracks. The champions spent most of the second half clinging on to a one-goal lead whilst enjoying a one-man advantage and rarely looking like scoring a second time. Furthermore we remain just about the worst team in the league in terms of counter attacking - even against ten men. I am tired of commentators foolishly stating 'watch out for Chelsea on the break.' Why? Are they going to undress or break into song?

Ironically, Chelsea probably played better when it was eleven versus eleven, but after Costa's superb finish, the English champions gradually retreated into their shell, producing a carbon copy display to that which they visited upon Old Trafford four weeks ago. If Flamini hadn't been so wasteful or Arsenil typically lack lustre against us, then we could have been mugged. Instead, the blue horde held out for a fairly comfortable three points and a bizarre double over the hotly-fancied Arsenic.

Of course, the Gooners are good against shit teams and seemingly shit against good teams. Nobody typifies this more than Mesut Ozil, laugh out loud. The trouble with Arsenil is that they played with anxiety, as demonstrated by numerous rash challenges, especially in the first half. The hosts were so desperate to win the ball back that they committed foul after foul and could easily have conceded a penalty too. I blame Wenger for sending his halfwits onto the team perhaps with a flea in their ear, cajoling them to play with urgency. Instead of which, they showed no composure and clearly have developed an almost terminal complex when confronted with Chelsea. How us Chelsea followers can smile and lampoon the norf London wannabes. The damning and hilarious facts tell their own story. Chelsea have not lost in their last nine league matches against Arsenic, while the latter have gone a whopping nine hours and thirty-two minutes without scoring a single goal in the Premiership against the mighty Chelsea.

Well, Leicester City (and Tottensham), we've done your players an almighty favour. Now go and finish ahead of Arsenic, and do the rest of us a giant favour too! Finally, will Arsene Wenger and his supporters ever break the habit of a lifetime and accept defeat from Chelsea with some grace? They have had plenty of practice by now! Oh and Arsenic, can we play you every week?
