Chelsea may still be marooned in bottom half of the table mediocrity, but Mourinho felt he could hail what he considered the best team performance of the season. It is true that Jose specialises on such occasions when he possesses the knack of blunting dangerous opposition, but in so doing, Chelsea tend to compromise their own chances of scoring. In fact, the special needs one is so terrified of conceding a goal that his team frequently struggle to record one themselves. When you opt to omit your leading scorer from last season, in favour of someone who has yet to score this season, the omens are not exactly favourable - and so it proved.

Mind you, makeshift centre forward Eden Hazard did everything but score (a recurring theme), and to be fair, he looked more likely to score than a toothless Tottenham ever did. So congratulations must be extended to a Chelsea midfield and defence which, even in the absence of Courtois and Terry, suddenly looks a lot more solid than it has done since the campaign began. Whether Chelsea will truly kick on from this honourable draw remains to be seen. It's one thing negating a potent attacking team, but it's quite another when you're at home to lesser teams, and the onus is on you to create and execute. Will Bournemouth be put to the sword this forthcoming Saturday, or will Chelsea's apparent paralysis in the final third extend into Christmas and undermine our quest to belatedly ascend the Premiership charts?
