Chelsea Convincingly Overcome The Villa

Aston Villa have been something of a Jekyll and Hyde proposition over the years for Chelsea. Yes we've scalped them with seven goals and eight goals in 2010 and 2012, but we struggled to take a total of three points off them last season. In fact Aston Villa are precisely the annoying kind of banana skin that the Blues need to excel against if they are to fulfil the early season hype.
Well fortunately the hosts set about their potentially awkward task in the best possible way by means of an early goal, courtesy of young Oscar. It took a frustrating hour before the Blues safely put this tussle to bed, courtesy of another goal from the seemingly unstoppable Diego Costa and from the lively Willian. Perhaps best of all, the league leaders even achieved a shut-out which bodes well for the future, at least from a defensive point of view. However greater challenges lie waiting over the next week, as the high-flying Chelsea must do battle with Sporting Lisbon and Arsenal. We will all know a great deal more about the west Londoners' credentials after those two fixtures. However for the time being, all is good at Stamford Bridge for Mourinho and his merry men.
