Rigas "brave face"

The Telegraph has published a report claiming boss Jose Riga put on a "brave face" following the player registration problems Blackpool faced heading into the game against Forest. Rival boss Stuart Pearce is also quoted in the article as saying “I’ve never seen that in football, especially in Championship. Very unusual,”

Speaking about Blackpools unusual start he said "Theirs was the worst possible preparation a team could have. We had two players come in on Thursday and it took time to integrate them, never mind what’s gone on at Blackpool.”

 Youth team beat.

Blackpools youth team were I'm action this weekend, taking in Lancashire rivals Burnley in the Alliance. The seasiders were beat 2-0 and Clarets Mad have posted a decent match report on there website which can be found below. Hopefully Blackpool can bounce back in there next fixture and boss Richie Kyle can emulate last seasons success.

One Man Team?

BFCBLOG.co.uk has an interesting article up suggesting that Charles Dunne could be the only senior player under contact next season. Of course the reality is most of players we have at the moment have options of another year, but reading the piece does make you question the wisdom behind the clubs contract policy especially following this summers farce. Oystons Smart Move

Martin Allen has had his latest article published by the Daily Mail. Allen comes out in support of the chairman suggesting he's been "smart" this summer. Whilst fans lambast the present chairman, it would seem in some footballing circles Oyston is seen as some kind of cavalliar on a crusade to rid the game of all it's problems. Many clubs have adopted Karl's use of one year option contracts this summer and with Financial Fair Play now coming in, less clubs have actually spent money then ever before. So maybe Karl has a point? Let us know on the forum.

Allens words were: "Karl Oyston, the Blackpool owner, runs a club with no debt, and have put a team together without having to pay players in June and July. It's a smart move. Rather than the start of summer when players and agents are demanding ridiculous sums, by getting them so close to the start of the season they can call the shots. The debts at most clubs in the Championship are huge. I can understand why Blackpool supporters were getting angry, but you have to ask yourself, do we want to be another Portsmouth or Hereford?"
