Jose Rigas Blackpool lost today, as they opened the season against Nottingham Forest. During the week following a number of signings, supporters confidence heading into the game had been boosted; despite defeat being heavily tipped by the bookies. That's confidence was soon diminished as it was revealed prior to kick off that pool had five signings ineligible to play due to an "administration error" which resulted in them not been registered on time and another two players sat out awaiting work permit. This Despite the fact some such as Ishmeal Miller had signed on Wednesday. This has led to fans questioning the experience of our recently appointed club secretary and reinforced the belief that the club is suffering internally from the loss of Matt Williams. Who dropped the division for a pay rise and a better job title at Shrewsbury this summer.

This meant Blackpool could only name four substitutes causing embarrassment for Jose Riga and the club. It did however offer first team experience to youngsters Mark Waddington and Dom Telford. Charles Dunne offered the only other outfield option giving him his first taste of tangerine since he signed over twelve months ago. Tony  McMahon took the ccaptains armband and the two teams lined up as follows.

Nottm Forest: Darlow, Hunt, Mancienne, Fox, Harding, Burke (Osborn 78), Cohen, Reid, Antonio (McLaughlin 57), Fryatt, Assombalonga. Subs: Lichaj, Veldwijk, Paterson, Hobbs, De Vries.

Blackpool: Lewis, McMahon, Daniels, Clarke, Perkins, Lundstram, Mellis, Cywka, Zenjov (Telford 87), Orlandi, Delfouneso. Subs: Parish, Dunne, Waddington.

A sold out home crowd meant the City Ground was rammed with over 28,000 supporters, despite this chants of "Oyston Out" rang out at times much to the dismay ofunder-fire  club owner Owen Oyston who was in attendance. 

 Blackpool could have took the lead through 'the Fonz' his header from Lunstrams free kick would of gone in on any other day. However today it wasn't to be and the striker headed wide. Prior to this though it was Forest who should of scored there multi million pound new signing Antonio headed wide. Whilst five million signing Assombalonga found himself denied by on loan keeper Joe Lewis.

The difference In the way the two teams have been assembled this summer is rather telling considering it wasn't that log ago we was meeting in the play offs, it's sadly ratherclear to see which club has developed with more of a purpose.

Forest took the lead after former pool old boy Andy Reid was denied by the woodwork, he had Joe Lewis beat and as he regained his feet winger Antonio Pushed it home to put Forest 1-0 up. Five minutes later they doubled that lead with Burke firing in across the face of goal from a good twenty five yards out.

Blackpool had chances to get into the game Orlandi firing wide after a curled efforts. Jacob Mellis did manage to ur the ball into the six yard box ten minutes later however it was met by a defernder who cleared well.

Blackpool fans will be hoping for better in further games. Thats likely with work permits set to be approved this week and five registrations to be completed it will give manager Jose Riga some better options to play with. This whole debacle has reinforced how thin the squad actually is and perhaps we need to be looking at getting another three to four bodies in over the next few days.

Donovan Daniels who made his debut took to twitter following the game describing the fans as "fantastic". We shall publish post match reaction I the next few hours.
