Match Preview: 12.8.14

Shrewsbury Town v. Blackpool @New Meadow

The Seasiders drew Shrewsbury in the first round of the Football League Cup.
The home club is also beginning a new era, having appointed manager Micky Mellon in May.

Blackpool is coming off a 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, while Shrewsbury's first match resulted in a 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon.

In contrast to Blackpool, Shrewsbury have startling depth and have certainly made an attempt to

rebuild after being relegated from League One at the end of the 2013-14 season.

The signings they’ve made include a familiar face, Mark Halstead at goalkeeper

(in addition to the hiring of Matt Williams behind the scenes as CEO).

Look for Blackpool to be the favourites in this one as the Championship representatives but don’t count the home side out.
