Cyrille Regis and John Wile today backed Albions decision to appoint Bryan Robson as manager. Regis today said "It is great to have an ex-player in charge" Former Baggies captain John Wile today said of Robson's appointment: "You look at what Bryan Robson has achieved in management and he is right up there.

"He has a lot of Premiership experience and his contacts in the game are as good as they come. He is ambitious and single-minded and let's hope that he can give the Albion supporters the success that they crave.

"He is the ideal person for the job. He was an excellent player for Albion and a fine ambassador for the club at that time.

"Bryan went on to achieve so much in the game - and is rightly regarded one of the greats with England."

Regis followed on to that by saying: "Bryan has got loads of experience and players will want to come and play for him which is a great factor to have in your favour.

"He would bring quality players to the club and who would want to play for Albion. Bryan would also have that determination to succeed.

"It is a great to have an ex-player there in charge and hopefully he can go from strength to strength with Albion."
