Baggies keen on Hughton

Chris Hughton

With the football season over and Roy Hodgson now departed for his role as England manager, West Bromwich Albion begin their search for his replacement.  One of the favourite candidates for the job is Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton.

With Birmingham's failure to capitalise on their Play Off opportunity, and fresh financial strain hanging over their heads, it looks unlikely that City will be able to persuade the 53 year old to stay at St Andrews.

West Bromwich Albion are just one of several managerless clubs that might be interested in luring Hughton away from Birmingham.  Whilst Hughton is reportedly happy at Birmingham City, the transfer embago which remains in place whilst the Birmingham International Holdings' accounts remain outstanding, could hinder his chances of stregthening in time to mount another promotion campaign next season.

The lure of Premiership football with West Brom could be enought to entice Hughton, who is already open to an approach from the Hawthorns club according to sources.

Although the lure of managing in the premiership again may be great, I honestly think that C H may feel that he has unfinished business at BCFC. He is obviously a man of integrity and although the financial problems are well documented many think that things are not quite as bad as the media make out. Time, of course will tell and the picture become clearer. Neither the media nor the public are really aware of what the real situation is and as a result bad publicity is something we as supporters have to put up with. Just look at all of the doom and gloom following relegation. One way or another the club will survive although it may be a long hard road and hopefully we will have C H at the helm next season.
