Filipe Teixeira has had some tought boots to fill since his arrival at the Hawthorns over summer. Failing to achieve the Premiership dream saw the exodus of several key Baggies players, including Jason Koumas and Diomansey Kamara. Since his £600,000 transfer to Albion he has been widely dubbed as the Koumas replacement, with the majority of fans warming to him immediately.

The popular Teixeira began his career at FC Felgueiras in the thrid division of the Portuguese league.  After an impressive start he earned himself a move to Ligue 2 side FC Istres.  The young midfielder continued to progress the following season when he made another move to Ligue 1 side Paris SG, where he played alongside Ronaldhino for a short amount of time.

Unable to settle, Teixeira spent a number of seasons moving back and forth between Portugal and Paris, eventually settling at Academica de Coimbra, where he hoped his chances of playing for Portugal would be increased.

After two successful seasons, he moved to West Bromwich Albion for the fee of £600,000.  Signing a three year contract, he made his debut just one week later at Northampton Town, where he scored two goals.  His first League start for the Baggies was in a 2-1 away defeat at Burnley, but he scored his first goal for Albion in a 2-0 home victory over Barnsley.
