Peace Wants To Retain Players

Chairman Jeremy Peace today insisted that there is no need to sell any key players if the club is relegated. Despite Kanu, who has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave the club if relegated, Peace plans to hold on to as many players as possible Peace said: "If the worst comes to the worst and we do get relegated we don't have to say 'everybody out'.

"And if we can keep the players we want to keep it will help to attract others.

"I would see about five players coming in the summer and would like a squad next season of 24 in the Premiership or 22 if we're back in the Championship."

"Keeping the numbers in order is one of the main things we've been trying to do here.

"In the last few months we've been trying to slim down the squad, get the requisite quality in.

"Then, whatever level you are playing at, you will be able to compete very efficiently and improve year-by-year."
