Reigning Champions The New Saints suffered a reverse at relegation fodder NEWI Cefn Druids on the opening night of the Welsh Premier 2007/8 season, Ricky Evans atoning for an earlier penalty miss.
WPL teams rue away goals
Both TNS and Rhyl go out of their respective European ties on away goals after making bright starts in the home leg.
Mixed results in Europe
TNS gain first ever victory in Champions League with a late Hogan goal giving them a 3-2 win over Ventspils. In the UEFA Cup, Rhyl come from behind to win 3-1 vs. Haka, but Carmarthen lose 8-0.
Llanelli lose out
Llanelli became the first Welsh side to win an Inter-toto Cup leg last weekend, but they missed out on the away goals rule, winning 5-3 on the day but drawing 6-6 on aggregate with Vetra (LIT).
