Aberystwyth Town will go into their match against Porthmadog still under the caretaker management of Christian Edwards with a permanent appointment not looking likely to be confirmed until early November. The Cambrian news revealed some of the potential applicants for the job on Wednesday.

Manaing Director Tony Bates tod the Cambrian news “There has been an excellent range of applicants for the position, including Peter Nicholas and Allan Bickerstaffe, and the trio of Martyn Griffiths, Gavin Allen, and Ryan Nicholls.”

Peter Nicholas and Allan Bickerstaffe have won the WPL with Llanelli ad Rhyl respectively, Martyn Griffiths was Brian Coynes deputy at Aber before taking a break this season from football, Former Aber striker Gavin Allen was player manager at Cymru Alliance side Penrhyncoch before resigning last season and Ryan Nicholls was manager at Welsh League Side Pontypridd.

Bates has also praised caretaker manager Christian Edwards on his role in taking charge of the team following the resignation of manager Brian Coyne and assistant Jake King a month ago.
He said: “Christian has done such a good job as caretaker manager, and we’ll be straining every sinew to try to keep him involved here in some capacity.
“We’ve been very impressed with the attitude of all the players, they have really given Christian 100 per cent commitment."

Welsh-premier.org.uk also understands there are an additional 2 or 3 names also being considered who are currently in management/coaching posts at other clubs in the WPL
