Morientes and Pellegrino start against Man U

New signings Fernando Morientes and Mauricio Pellegrino made their debuts in this mornings vital Premiership game against Manchester Unnited.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez picked both of his new signings in today's crucial clash against Manchester United. This decision lifted the Anfield faithful but didn't pay off as Liverpool went on to lose the game.

Pellegrino got his chance because of an injury to Steve Finnan and he partnered Sami Hyypia in the centre of the Reds defence with Jamie Carragher moving to right back.

Morientes has scored on every debut he has had in his career but not today because of some good defending by Manchester United.
